Ode to Noah

On the eve on my son's third birthday, I tucked him in bed and told him all the big milestones of the year. I know I was more melancholy than he was; children just grow too fast. Last year Josh and I were in Beijing, China over his birthday (I cried all that day.) He was speaking just words, not sentences, then. Now he is contemplating life through words, questions, and songs. He rides a bike and scooter better than I ever have. He is a big brother. Will every year bring this much change?

Here are a few of my favorite noah quotes...

every morning, after every nap "mom, I wake up"

if you give him a horsy ride it's "WEE HAW!"

when he is curious or trying to make sense of something he asks the same question over and over.

"where do bad guys live?", "where do thunder live?", "where do fireworks live?",

"where do fire trucks live?", "where do water live?", "where do bananas live?" etc.

"I love you soo much."

"I not do it again."

"It's just an accident."

"It's my job"

"It's for my diet." (I'm afraid those are my own words coming back to haunt me.)

"pashsh" (His sound effect when he gives you a kiss.)

I don't think the written word can do his sweet voice and inflections justice. I hope when I reread this in years to come I can still hear noah's voice.

noah's favorites: fire trucks, police cars, helicopters, macaroni and cheese, helping mom bake, helping dad do anything, curious george, calliou, buying gum at the store, playing with scout, our neighbor robbie, biking, scootering, rocking out with dad, singing, toy stores, watching for the school bus and garbage truck, phone calls from family, the movie "cars", nursery, chocolate milk, and diapers.

noah dislikes: storms, loud noise, change, the dark, nuts, raw carrots, flies, bees, and daddy going to work.

Happy Birthday Noah

coming out of the dark

I have never texted in my life.
I actually do not own a cell phone.
I went through college without a personal computer.
I have an ipod but have not figured out how to download music.
It's not that I am an incompetent person, I have just chose to live incompetently.
So today marks a great step into the world of technology.

I have been a closet blog reader of my friends and family. Yet I never make any comments. I usually take 15 minutes to write a two line email because I reread, rewrite, reevaluating if my tone sounds okay etc. etc. So I am throwing caution to the wind and putting my voice out there (for probably just mom, beck and darcie to read). I think it could be a great means of journaling the precious moments in little noah and clara's life.
